Loomis Road Reconstruction on WisDOT's Radar

The stretch from 51st Street just north of Greendale nearly to 27th Street is slated for improvements in 2020, or earlier.

While City of Greenfield officials lobby the county to reconstruct a section of Layton Avenue sooner rather than later, another state-owned highway is getting a preliminary look by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. A 2.6-mile segment of Loomis Road, or WIS 36, from just north of Greendale at South 51st Street to West Fardale Avenue in Milwaukee is in the preliminary design phase for reconstruction, according to WisDot. Pavement and curb and gutters will be replaced and missing sidewalks will be added on both sides of the roadway. Intersection improvements would include lengthening turn lanes and traffic signal upgrades designed to improve traffic flow.
