Teen Accused of Fraudulent Transactions With Greendale Woman's Debit Card

Suspect charged $501 to the vicitm's card, including a $304 purchase at Champs.

A 17-year-old West Allis man is facing charges after he used a debit card stolen from a Greendale woman to buy items across Milwaukee County. Eric J. Ausbon was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Friday with one count of forgery. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On July 11, the victim contacted Greendale police after she found her debit card had been stolen and nine transactions had been made in two days at businesses around Milwaukee County. A total of $501 was charged to the card, including a $304 purchase at Champ’s Sporting Goods, which was traced back to Ausbon. Thousands Stolen from Fox Point Woman During Shopping Trip at Mall

Her purse was never out of her site, but thief stole her credit cards and charged nearly $4,300 on them.

Keeping your purse close by can be the difference between a cheap or expensive trip to the mall. Fox Point police received a complaint from a 30-year-old Fox Point woman who claims someone stole her credit and debit cards, and used them to rack up a bill of nearly $4,400. She was at Southridge Mall in Greendale on May 31 between noon and 5:30 p.m., according to the police report. She said that the only time she used any of her credit or debit cards was in the food court at Dairy Queen and Subway. She told officers that at no other time did she remove her wallet from her purse, nor did her purse leave her possession. At some point during the time she was at Southridge, someone had removed the small wallet from her purse and used the cards …

Those are some interesting thoughts, Bren. Thank you for sharing. There were quite a handful of purse snatchings in Fox Point over the last few months as well. These were stolen from locked vehicles though, but seems to be a pattern of those stolen credit and debit cards being used at places like Walmart after the fact.   more ›
