A Greenfield man is facing charges after he allegedly bought $1,200 in J.C. Penny’s gift cards so he could trade them for crack cocaine. John Patrick Graham, 47, was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Thursday with two counts of theft by fraud. If convicted, he faces up to 18 months in prison and $20,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On Dec. 6, 7 and 8, Graham took his mother’s credit card to J.C. Penny’s located in Southridge Mall and purchased multiple $100 gift cards on each occasions. Two of the trips he told the cashier the woman whose name was on the card was his wife and the other occasion he commented about purchasing the cards for kids. Fox Point police received a complaint from a 30-year-old Fox Point woman who claims someone stole her credit and debit cards, and used them to rack up a bill of nearly $4,400. She was at Southridge Mall in Greendale on May 31 between noon and 5:30 p.m., according to the police report. Those are some interesting thoughts, Bren. Thank you for sharing. There were quite a handful of purse snatchings in Fox Point over the last few months as well. These were stolen from locked vehicles though, but seems to be a pattern of those stolen credit and debit cards being used at places like Walmart after the fact.   more ›
