As the Wisconsin Badgers take the field on Tuesday, there are plenty of Milwaukee County residents to root for in the game vs. Stanford.
For Milwaukee County residents, the Rose Bowl is more than just a long-standing tradition of New Year’s Day football. With several local residents playing for the Wisconsin Badgers, there’s plenty to cheer for this year. Joel Stave, a redshirt freshman from Whitnall High School in Greenfield, started six games at quarterback this season before suffering a broken collarbone. He completed 70 of 118 passes for 1,104 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions. Stave has been cleared to play in the Rose Bowl but Curt Phillips will start, according to SBNation.com. He was named Academic All-Big Ten. Rick Wagner, a redshirt senior from West Allis Hale, will be asked to protect whoever is playing quarterback. He started 11 games at left tackle…

The job is posted, as any other at a public university. But it's unlikely you will be picked by Barry Alvarez to replace Bret Bielema as the school's football coach. Who will be?
Do you think all those years you’ve spent as an unpaid assistant coach for the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers football qualify you to replace Bret Bielema as the Badgers’ new head coach? The Better Business Bureau warns fans to be careful of ticket scams. Craigslist, the online classified ad site, and eBay, the online auction site, already have hundreds of listings for Rose Bowl tickets. The Wisconsin BBB wants to remind Badger fans that scams and counterfeit tickets are common, and they should use caution when buying tickets and packages – especially online. The BBB offers these tips to make sure you do not get scammed: For more information or further inquiries, please contact the Wisconsin BBB at www.wisconsin.bbb.org or 414-847-6000 (…

It's been a great run, but will a cleated shoe soon fall?
You can tell a Wisconsin sports fan by the change that's taken place over the last nine months. He smiles a lot. Refuses to change habits (or clothes). Hugs strangers. Reacts to fixing a leaky faucet by either a) giving himself a championship belt, or b) going into "Beast Mode." The last month has seen the bandwagon only pick up speed. The Brewers captured the division, the National League Division Series and Game 1 of the NL Championshp Series. The Packers won a Super Bowl in February, the sixth of an 11-game win streak that continued Sunday night. The Wisconsin Badgers football team is also unbeaten and a contender for the national title. And oh, yes, the Milwaukee Wave won their fifth league championship back in the spring and the …
