Packers V. Titans Travel Advisory

The seats are shoveled clean in Lambeau, but road conditions may still be snow-covered, especially in construction zones. Here's a preview of what to expect on the way to Green Bay.

Sharing this release from our friends at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) for those of you who are making the journey north to watch the Green Bay Packers tackle the Tennessee Titans. WisDOT Northeast Region in Green Bay is reminding motorists heading to Lambeau Field on Sunday, Dec. 23, for the Green Bay Packers/Tennessee Titans football game that some road construction continues on major roads in northeast Wisconsin. The good news is most projects have concluded for the year, but drivers might still encounter road conditions in some remaining work zones that could cause backups.    WisDOT strongly recommends motorists allow themselves additional time to reach their destinations.  Here is a list of the major roads in …

WisDOT Unwraps A Christmas Gift For Holiday Travelers

Ramp from I-894 eastbound to I-43 northbound will reopen on Thursday, along with other ramp openings.

Motorists have been good this year - or at least since construction closed key freeway ramps in February - and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans on putting them on the 'nice' list by reopening the ramp from I-894 eastbound to I-43 northbound in the Mitchell Interchange. Drivers using the ramp to get downtown from I-894 have had to endure detours since Febraury. However, if you've been used to a left-hand exit, you'll have to change your habits, as the DOT has redesigned the ramp to have a right-hand exit. In addition, the ramp will come up on drivers sooner than before as well, so if you're an indecisive driver, you could pass it by. "If they miss it, they'll be headed south on I-94," toward Chicago, Ryan Luck, SE Freeways …

Most Highway Construction Will Cease Over Labor Day Weekend

But traffic will still be heavy all over the state. Thursday will be a particularly busy day with home Brewers, Badgers and Packers games slated in Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay.

During the Labor Day weekend, workers will take a break from construction on most highway projects around the state, but motorists may still encounter lane restrictions in work zones that require extra precautions, according to Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) officials. WisDOT announced today in a news release that most major highway construction and repair work will cease around noon Friday, Sept. 2, and will not resume until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6. "However, because of the increased holiday traffic, driving through work zones will be even more challenging," said Don Greuel of the WisDOT Project Service Section. "Drivers will need to slow down, pay attention and avoid following other vehicles too closely when approaching …

WisDOT to Install New Lighting in Marquette Interchange; Lane Closure Expected This Week

The 'digital chevron' system installed will be a first in the state.

Commuters, take note: The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will implement a new technology in the Marquette Interchange from the I-94 eastbound ramp to northbound I-43 in starting July 12. The installation will close the right lane on I-94 eastbound between the 13th Street exit and the connector ramp to I-43 northbound from July 12-15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. While travel times may be longer, John Oimoen, manager with WisDOT, said the operation will ultimately improve operations and safety on our transportation network.” He also said “a new dynamic chevron system is a cost-effective way to help motorists stay alert and monitor their speeds in this area.” This system is the first of its kind in Wisconsin and WisDOT said benefits…
