So when he her husband came to her with an idea on how to take on the holiday shopping season, she said she was quick to agree. “My husband was like, ‘We got to get all of our gifts from downtown,’” Svoboda said. “And I was like ‘yes, you’re absolutely right, that’s why we moved to Greendale.’” The Svboda’s are two of …

Greendale is adding a little pizzazz to its 75th Anniversary celebration with the addition of a laser light show. The Greendale Village Board gave unanimous approval Tuesday to hire Connecticut Lasers to run a laser light show on Aug. 8 in front of village hall. The show will last one hour and be projected down Broad Street. “I think it’s going to be a great addition to the event,” Trustee James Birmingham said. Village Days is scheduled to increase from three days to five days in 2013 and the laser light show will be added as part of the additional days. The village’s Public Celebrations Committee has raised the $16,000 needed to pay for the event. The committee did look into other companies to perform the light show, but most others were…

Greendalers had a proud day. The real leadership of our fair village were there. Our school district had opportunities to be a part of this and choose not to. We must keep our eyes forward and remember our :Official Seal of the Village of Greendale which was designed by Marshall Bartos. The gear in the seal represents the industrial worker; the grain sheaf represents the agricultural worker; the …   more ›
