A 65-year-old was trying to secure weapon in his vehicle when it accidentally discharged.
A 65-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the leg about 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Southridge parking lot. According to Greendale Police Department logs, the man was attempting to secure the weapon in his vehicle when the gun discharged. Paramedics transported him to the hospital. The log also showed a 21-year-old man was arrested in the incident, but the reason wasn't clear. It's the second time in a little more than a year that a gun was accidentally fired on Southridge property. In November 2011, an off-duty Milwaukee police officer inadvertently discharged his weapon while shopping.

Burger King, 4980 S. 76th St., closed last week as construction crews give the fast-food restaurant a new look. The restaurant, is expected to reopen later this month or in early November. When the renovations began, the restaurant’s drive-thru remained opened, but the city’s health department stepped in and stopped the drive-thru operations Oct. 4. Why is there a need to start the "Christmas season" earlier and earlier every year?
Is that the sun?* After days of constant dreariness and gloominess (unless you’re a Brewers fan), the clouds disappeared and the sun came out to make for a pretty good fall afternoon. Leaves are just starting to fall to the ground, neighbors are starting to put out some Halloween decorations and the high school football regular season is already two-thirds complete. It’s September. It’s fall in Wisconsin. So why the heck are stores already selling Christmas decorations? Last weekend, I visited Brookfield Square’s JCPenney. When I got to the home living section, I stopped dead in my tracks to see Christmas trees, ornaments and other holiday decorations. It was Sept. 23! More than a month before Halloween. Jason: Did Wisconsin's Concealed Carry law really have anything to do with the off-duty cop at Southridge? The Law Enforcement officers Safety Act of 2004 allowed off duty cops to carry in all 50 states. Prior to that law, I believe that off duty officers in Wisconsin could conceal carry in their jurisdiction if their local department allowed it. more ›
