Old Businesses Moving, New Ones Coming to Greendale Village Center

Seasons of the Heart is moving and Batley's Barber Shop has moved. Meanwhile, some businesses are expanding and new ones are coming to the Village.

Spring will bring plenty of changes to the Village Center, complete with old faces in new spaces and some new tenants. According to Anne Marie Pierce, the Village Center leasing manager, Seasons of the Heart is relocating into a new space currently under construction at 5606 Broad Street, in what was the south end of the Visitors Center. Pierce said Seasons of the Heart could be in its new space by mid-May. The soon to be former Seasons of the Heart location will be split into two new spaces, each approximately 1,500 square feet, said Pierce, who said she could not reveal who will be moving in until leases are signed. Also, Batley’s Barber Shop, 5629 Broad St., has relocated to 5630 Parking Street, the former House of Charles space. …

Ricardo's Pizza Makes Top 100 List

Greendale's Ricardo's Pizza made the list of the top 100 independent pizza joints in Pizza Today magazine for its high gross sales of $2.4 million.

Who doesn't love pizza? I can eat pizza every day. Seriously, I can. So you can understand why I was so excited to hear that Ricardo’s Pizza in Greendale made the list of the top 100 independent pizza joints by gross sales in the industry magazine Pizza Today. Ricardo’s ranked 80th on list, along with its second location Riverfront Pizzeria & Grill in Milwaukee. The restaurants together brought in $2.4 million in 2011. Other Wisconsin pizza places that made the list include Pizza Shuttle in Milwaukee and Glass Nickel Pizza Co. based in Madison. Greendale has been the home to Ricardo's Pizza since 1970. The Loch family began the Italian restaurant as a pizzeria and expanded to a new menu of pastas, sandwiches, and other entrées after their …

Construction Underway for Outdoor Seating at Ricardo's Pizza

Outdoor dining will be ready for customers in a couple weeks.

Ricardo's Pizza fans will have the choice of outdoor dining soon. Construction has begun on the fence that will enclose a few tables for outdoor dining. The Board of Trustees approved a permit in July that would allow outdoor dining at Ricardo’s on Broad Street. Richard Loch, the owner of the restaurant, had been struggling for two years in trying to create outdoor dining. The struggles were due to serving alcoholic beverages outdoors. According to ordinance, outdoor dining needs to be in a regulated and in a controlled area if alcohol is going to be served. As a solution Loch is building a fence around the area with about four tables and will be built in between the restaurant and the water fountain. Loch said that it should be ready for …
