Village Identifies Nearly $1 Million in Potential Road Upgrades

The Public Works Department wish list includes repairs on five roads and an expensive light replacement project.

The Greendale Public Works Department has identified nearly $1 million in street repairs it would like to tackle in 2013. In a memo to the Village Board dated Jan. 11, Engineer Len Roecker outlined the recommended road projects for the 2013 construction season. The recommended improvements include four streets: None of those street segments have had significant improvements made in 20 or more years, and the estimated cost for repairs is $544,000. Most of the proposed road repairs call for a milling and overlaying of asphalt, a cheaper alternative to pulverizing the roads. Another costly project would be the replacement of street lighting in the southeast and northeast quadrants of Eastway. According to the memo, the lights on that street …
