The Greendale-sports themed family-friendly restaurant should open on Broad Street this summer.
After weeks of demolition inside the former Associated Bank building, 5651 Broad St., in Downtown Greendale, construction of the Panther Pub & Eatery has begun. Owner Mike Drilling told Greendale Patch on Monday, building the restaurant would take several weeks. Though he has a target in mind, he said no official opening date had been set. Panther Pub was approved by the Village last fall and will be the second major restaurant addition to downtown in as many years, following Joey Gerard's 2012 opening.

The new eatery plans to open in downtown Greendale by the Fourth of July.
"Downtown Greendale's Next Big Thing," as Mike Vickery's Feb. 7 column put it, still has a ways to go before its planned Fourth of July opening. But the Panther Pub and Eatery has already generated some buzz in the community, and several chimed in after reading Vickery's column about what they want to see at the new Greendale eatery. L G: Local craft brewer and perhaps local vodka and other spirits. There is quite the guild of spirit and brew makers in and around Milwaukee. I hope that their efforts are offered here. It is a great way to foster these upstart businesses and makers. VW: Make it good craft beer, not just the usual tasteless yellow fizzy water. David Hardeman: I second the good craft beer idea. I am tired of having to drive …

The Village continues to grow while retaining its inner Bedford Falls.
As every clock owner knows, the times they are a changin’. It certainly holds true here in the Garden Community. We move into our 75th year in full stride, boasting of archways and signage and streetscaping and a totally reimagined Mall. Our Village Leaders have done all this without a loss of innocence, without transforming our core essence. We remain way more Bedford Falls than Pottersville. I am fairly certain Mr. Gower is a manager at our Walgreens. The last time Greendale went through so much change was in 1938 – the big move from ‘cow pasture’ to ‘Village’. Historians refer to 1938 as “the year Greendale started making Greenfield look bad” – although some cows feel they – the cows - were doing this long before 1938. If you are …

Owner Mike Drilling spoke about his vision of the upcoming Panther athletics-themed restaurant in the Village Center.
Panther Pub and Eatery, a Greendale athletics-themed restaurant in the Village Center, will provide a family experience, the owner said at a presentation Thursday. Mike Drilling said at a Greendale Historical Society meeting he had “no interest in opening a tavern or bar.” He said the restaurant would be a family establishment where parents can bring their kids, and also be inviting to a younger crowd. He said his establishment would be similar to a Red Robin and Applebees. Some have expressed concerns that Drilling is bringing a bar into the Village Center. “I don’t want that kind of establishment,” Drilling said. “I think we all know what I’m talking about. Parents have to be able to bring their 6-year-old.” Drilling said he’s always …

The locally-owned restaurant with a Greendale athletics theme will open by next summer.
The Panther Pub and Eatery, a Greendale athletics-themed pub and eatery in the Village Center, got the official go-ahead. It plans to employ between 40 and 50 employees, with full- and part-time positions. It cleared its final hurdle on Tuesday, when the Village Board unanimously approved its special-use application. The Panther Pub will have the same hours of operations restrictions as Joey Gerard’s and Ricardo’s. This means that it can be open as late as 2 a.m. Owner Mike Drilling said he plans to open next summer. Drilling wants this restaurant to be a part of the community, and plans to …

The planned Greendale Panthers-themed restaurant will fit 95 people and include an outdoor dining patio.
A Greendale athletics-themed pub and eatery in the Village Center is one step closer to becoming a reality. The Planning Commission unanimously voted Wednesday night to recommend the Village Board approve the Panther Pub and Eatery application. The restaurant, planned for the former Associated Bank on Broad Street, will fit about 95 people and will include a 40-person outdoor dining patio. While the restaurant requested the maximum allowable hours of operation, commissioners recommended hours to be similar to competing Village Center restaurants, Ricardo’s Pizza and Bartolotta’s Joey Gerard. Owner Mike Drilling agreed. Village staff will come back to the Board with a recommendation on hours of operation once they confirm the other …

A village native plans to bring a Greendale athletics-themed pub and eatery to the old Associated Bank Building in the Village Center.
A Greendale athletics-themed pub and eatery could open in the Village Center sometime next summer. Panther Pub and Eatery would be at the old Associated Bank building on Broad Street. Greendale native and would-be owner Mike Drilling says he’s still in the process of purchasing the building from Associated Bank but everything is looking good. A special request permit has been submitted to the Village of Greendale for exterior and interior renovations. Drilling says he always envisioned a Panther-themed restaurant. As a Greendale High School graduate and eight-year assistant baseball coach, Drilling wants this restaurant to be a source a fundraising for various Greendale non-profits, especially Greendale High School organizations. “I like …
