Fox's hit TV show will feature Nick Young, who spent years training at his mother's dance academy in Oak Creek and previously appeared on 'So You Think You Can Dance.'
Nick Young, who spent years dancing at his mother's Young Dance Academy in Oak Creek, is taking his talents to Glee tonight. Fox's hit show airs locally at 8 p.m. on channel 6 (WITI-TV). Young has been dropping hints about his appearance on his Twitter feed. By the hashtags Young used, he might be stepping out with the Warblers, the New Directions rivals from all-boys school Dalton Academy. The New Directions will be preparing for Sectionals as they face against the Warblers. Gleeks will be happy see a number of returning faces. Click here for a preview of tonight's episode. The Wisconsin dancer couldn't tap his way past the second week.
It was a short but terrific run on FOX's So You think You Can Dance for Franklin dancer Nick Young. He endured the audition and the grueling week in Vegas where he danced difficult routines in a number of styles to make to the Top 20. The first week of competition, he and his partner, Iveta Lukosiute, a professional ballroom dancer, performed the quickstep. Young killed it, much to the surprise of the live and at-home audiences. This second week the couple pulled Bollywood and while Young lived up to his potential, his partner's performance wasn't as strong and they found themselves in the bottom three. Nick Young will compete for America's votes.
Nick Young is living his dream after advancing to the top 20 on "So You Think You Can Dance" on FOX (Channel 6). According to a Q&A on the show website, Young started dancing when he was just 4 years old in his mom's dance studio, the Young Dance Academy in Oak Creek. He auditioned for the show as a tap dancer, but was able to showcase skills in other styles throughout the try out period. Young, a Franklin resident, will dance for America's votes starting Wed., June 15 at 7 pm on Channel 6. If he garners enough votes, he will continue onto the next week, and each week he will learn new dance routines in a different style from a variety of choreographers, and possibly with a different partner. John, you raise a good point about Reynolds and her tap background. I thought Iveta was an asset during the quickstep, but she lost it during Bollywood while Nick kept it together and then some, which is why I was hoping the judges would keep him.
