Election Preview: Greendale School Board

Six people are running for three seats on the Greendale School Board in the general election to be held April 2.

Voters in the Greendale School District will head to the polls April 2 to choose three people to serve on the Greendale School Board. The top three vote-getters will take seats on the board. Candidates are incumbents Tom Slota, Melanie Kuzmanovic and Vicki McCormick, and challengers Roger Dalkin, Kathleen Wied-Vincent and Katie Mevis.  (Click on link for biographical information on each candidate). They did get a 3% raise but that came after about a 10% cut so they are still down 7% from a year ago. Without quality teachers, we have no quality education. Instead of confrontation and quality teachers leaving a district like New Berlin, we have a relatively stable work force due to the fact that the board and the teachers for the most part have worked together. Oak Creek School Counselor Elected as New Greendale School Board Member

Melanie Kuzmanovic, mother of three and 20-year resident, was voted as the newest member of the school board on Monday's board meeting.

A new face is sitting on the Greendale School Board. Melanie Kuzmanovic, mother of three, was voted in by the school board to replace Jim Schutte. Schutte resigned his position as board member in April because he moved outside of the district. Five people were in interviewed at Monday night’s open board meeting. The board asked questions about how to handle budgets, where the district could improve, technology, and communicating with parents. Kuzmanovic has been a school counselor for over 20 years. She works at Oak Creek High School. In her interview she said she understands the trials and tribulations of working with teachers, students, parents, district personnel and the difficulty of budgets.
