LongHorn Steakhouse Now Open Near Southridge

Village officials and the restaurant staff celebrated the grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday.

With a line of initial customers lined up outside the door, LongHorn Steakhouse opened for business Monday. The new restaurant, the third LongHorn to open in Wisconsin, is the newest addition to 76th Street and Southridge Mall area. At 5220 S. 76th St., LongHorn, along with Panda Express just to the south, have replaced the former Leath Furniture building. Village officials celebreated the grand opening with restaurant staff during a ceremonial ribbon-cutting event.

Greendale Has Two Big Events in the Week Ahead

A grand opening and the kickoff to the Village's big summer anniversary celebration highlight an exciting week.

The Village has two big events on the docket this week. LongHorn Steakhouse, 5220 S. 76th St., the latest edition to the Southridge area, is scheduled to open Monday, April 29, following a ceremonial ribbon-cutting event at 11 a.m. The 6,221-square-foot restaurant will seat more than 240 guests and will create approximately 100 new jobs. The kickoff to the Village of Greendale’s 75th Anniversary celebration is two days later. On Wednesday, May 1, the Village will commemorate its official anniversary date – Greendale opened to new residents on May 1, 1938 – and its National Historic Landmark designation, which it received last fall. The event is slated for 4 p.m. on the front lawn of Village Hall. Local and state officials will be on hand …

LongHorn Announces Official Open Date for Greendale Restaurant

The grand opening will be highlighted by a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

UPDATE: April 26 The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 29. Original story: The third LongHorn Steakhouse in Wisconsin and first in the Milwaukee area is slated to open in Greendale at 5220 S. 76th St., on Monday, April 29, according to a news release distributed by the restaurant chain's public relations firm. The 6,221-square-foot restaurant will seat more than 240 guests and will create approximately 100 new jobs. The opening will be celebrated with a ribbon cutting April 29. Village and restaurant officials will be in attendance. At the time of publication, Greendale Patch was unsure of the time of the grand opening celebration. LongHorn Steakhouse Hiring, Opening Soon

The restaurant is slated to open in late April, and several employment opportunities are available at 76th Street's newest addition.

Seven months after getting approval from the Village to build a new restaurant on 76th Street, LongHorn Steakhouse is nearing completion. A customer service representative told Greendale Patch there is no definite date slated for an opening, but that the restaurant at 5220 S. 76th St. was on track to open in late April. Signage went up on the exterior of the building earlier this week, and according to the company’s website, the restaurant is hiring bartenders, servers, line cooks and other positions. When the restaurant opens, it will hold hours of 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

Which Greendale Business Opening Are You Excited About?

Restaurants, a grocery store, a shoe store and more will all be opening this year in Greendale. Tell us which one excites you most.

Last year there were many exciting announcements coming out of Greendale. Many of those included store openings around the Southridge area and Village Center. Chick-Fil-A, Walmart, Longhorn Steakhouse, Buca di Beppo and Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) are all opening on 76th Street this year. An athletics-themed Panther Pub and Eatery will be opening in the Village Center by summer as well.  Old Navy, LOFT and Chico's will be opening in Southridge Mall.

Longhorn Steakhouse Approved for 76th Street

The restaurant will be open seven days a week lunch through dinner.

A Longhorn Steakhouse will be built on 76th Street, at the old Leath Furniture location, after receiving final approval from the Greendale Village Board. The restaurant will be next to the future Panda Express. This location will seat over 200 people. A representative from the restaurant chain said the new location will employ 75 to 90 full- and part-time positions. Longhorn Steakhouse is a 30-year-old chain of restaurants that serve steaks, chicken and fish in an "atmosphere reminiscent of a Western rancher's home." Greendale Patch is asking village officials for a projected open date for Longhorn Steakhouse. Ann Taylor Loft, Justice, Body Central Might Come to Southridge Mall

The Southridge Mall renovation is attracting new stores inside and outside the mall, which includes restaurant Longhorn Steakhouse, Panda Express and Chick-a-Fil.

Ann Taylor Loft and Justice might open at Southridge Mall, according to paperwork from the Village of Greendale. The Milwaukee Business Journal also reported that Body Central is among the new stores opening inside the mall. Southridge Manager Mary Mokwa said she was not able to yet confirm the tenants. The $52 million renovation has drawn a number of new tenants both inside and outside the mall, most notably the recent openings of Macy’s and H&M. Tilly’s, Teavana,  Bachrach, Crazy 8, and Journeys Kidz will also open in the mall this fall. Meanwhile outside the mall, Panada Express and proposed Longhorn Steakhouse and Chick-Fil-a are opening on 76th Street.
