Walmart Opening Days Away

The 76th Street Walmart is almost ready to open. Whether you're thrilled or dismayed, it's almost here.

The new Greendale Walmart is days away from welcoming its first customers.  Wednesday will be the first day of shopping at the new store, and customers will find what the store manager described as a "smaller, supercenter format." At 90,000 square feet, it comes inbetween the 154,000-square-foot Greenfield Supercenter on Highway 100 and the 40,000-square-foot West Allis Neighborhood Market, said store manager Jason Steffen. The Walmart will carry groceries—though not as many as Greendale residents and officials may have been expecting. I'm sure they did that out of the goodness of their hearts and not as a PR move and to easily find another base of part-time employees who get no benefits.   more ›
