Boy Arrested For Second Time in Graffiti Incidents

The boy's mother contacted police after discovering graffiti at the community center similar to tagging found in her home. However, police say he continued tagging after his arrest.

Greendale police have arrested a boy for a second time in connection with graffiti found throughout the village. According to a Greendale Police Deparment news release: After seeing a surge in reports of graffiti (or "tagging") since the beginning of the year, police began an investigation into the person responsible. The boy's mother contacted police after recognizing graffiti done at the community center to be similar to tagging she saw in her house. But after the boy was arrested and released—with a court date scheduled in Children's Court—new tagging appeared throughout the village. Police discovered the same boy was responsible and arrested him for a second time May 10. This time, he was held in the Milwaukee County Children's Court …

Trio of Heroes Save Man's Life at Southridge Mall

A Greendale police detective, a mall security sergeant and a citizen helped save the life of 61-year-old Loreto Piczon, who suffered a heart attack while walking in the mall.

Since coming from California to Wisconsin to visit his daughter, Loreto Piczon had become a mall walker at Southridge, doing laps around the mall with dozens other before stores open. One lap in late March was nearly Piczon’s last. At approximately 9:45 a.m. March 30, Piczon, 61, suffered what should have been a life-taking heart attack. Should have been, had it not been for an alert and capable trio. Mall security Sgt. Joel Rose was one of the first men to reach Piczon after a citizen dialed 911. He immediate began performing CPR by providing Piczon with emergency breathing. He was also quick to request an automated exterior defibrillator. Lawrence Shikes of Milwaukee saw what was going on and after finding another citizen to tend to his …

Greendale PD Explain Disappearance of U.S. Flag

The department said it didn't mean to offend any armed forces members when it removed the U.S. flag that usually flies outside the station. Storms broke the ropes on the flag pole.

The Greendale Police Department said ropes on flag poles outside the police station broke during last week's storms and left it unable to fly the U.S. flag. The department said in a Facebook post that some members of the armed services may have been insulted by the flag's disappearance, but no offense was meant. "We have the utmost respect for our Armed Services members and wish to apologize if any were offended," the department wrote. The U.S. flag was flying again Monday while the department waits for the center of the three poles to be fixed.

A 65-year-old was trying to secure weapon in his vehicle when it accidentally discharged.

A 65-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the leg about 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Southridge parking lot. Jason: Did Wisconsin's Concealed Carry law really have anything to do with the off-duty cop at Southridge? The Law Enforcement officers Safety Act of 2004 allowed off duty cops to carry in all 50 states. Prior to that law, I believe that off duty officers in Wisconsin could conceal carry in their jurisdiction if their local department allowed it.   more ›
