Board Takes Another Step in Making Learning Center a Reality

The Village Board approved its part of $50,000 for the creation of the $150,000 community learning center.

The Village of Greendale has joined the Greendale Library Board in approving funding for a proposed Community Learning Center. The Greendale Village Board approved $50,000 towards the $150,000 creation of the CLC in collaboration with the library board and the Greendale School District. Open Market Moved from Municipal Parking Lot to Broad Street

Broad Street will be closed off every other Saturday from June 23 through Oct. 20 for the Greendale Open Market. The change was proposed after discussions with the Village Center business owners.

The Greendale Village Board voted yesterday to move Greendale Parks and Recreation's Open Market from the Municipal Parking Lot to Broad Street. The Open Market begins June 23 and is held every other Saturday through Oct. 20. They hoped the move would bring more people to the Village Center and improve the visibility of the market. Park and Rec did not make the proposal.  "Whatever you think would be best we’re willing try," said Parks and Rec Director Jackie Schweitzer. "We…

PHOTOS: Father/Daughter Dance Begins, Ends with Aloha

Greendale Park and Recreation's 12 annual Father/Daughter Dance sported a Hawaiian theme.

There are three meanings for the Hawaiian word aloha: hello, goodbye and love. On Friday, March 31 some lucky girls had a date night with dad, grandpa, uncle, or brother during the Greendale Park and Recreation’s 12th annual Father Daughter Dance.   The girls experienced all the meanings of aloha with their dates and were also treated to a special free hula lesson. This year, 22 families signed up, many with two sisters, one for each of dad’s arms. John Gnadt looks forward to this date night with his daughters every year. “We’ve been coming about four years now and it’s just awesome,” Gnadt said. Jim Bohn and his 9-year-old daughter have been coming since the first dance in 2001 and have made a group date night out of this event. “A bunch …
