Greendale Students' Artwork In Regional Art Show

A number of Greendale Middle School students will have their artwork shown in a regional art show beginning this weekend.

A number of Greendale Middle School students will have their artwork displayed at the Milwaukee Regional Art Fair from Feb. 16 through March 8. Margaret Anagnostopoulos, Alexys Birmingham, Quinten Eismann, Ana Gonzalez, Jane Gozdowiak, Tyler Magerowski, Kaylee Reeve, Katelyn Salazar, Sydney Schact, and Morgan Vlaj will have their work presented at the Oconomowoc Art Center, 641 East Forest St., in Oconomowoc. Their work, which is part of a 100-piece collection, includes digital photographs, acrylic paintings, watercolor paintings, and charcoal drawings. Third Annual Greendale Benefit Concert Raised Over $800

The student-run concert raised $820 for Sophia's Heart.

Greendale High School's third annual benefit concert raised $820 for Sophia's Heart — a charity that aims to improve the lives of children. The student-organized concert held on Feb. 10 featured performances by musicians from Greendale Schools, as well as the local community members. The benefit concert tradition stemmed from a group of Greendale Middle School students who felt compelled to help when a devasting earthquake hit Haiti in 2010. Each year, students from almost every grade level meet, hold auditions, organize a concert at the high school and donate the profits to a charity.   Last year the concert benefited the Hunger Task Force. In the last three years the concerts have raised over $3,000. Greendale Student-Driven Concert Will Benefit Sophia's Heart This Friday

The charity aims to improve the lives of children.

Greendale School District students will hold their third annual Benefit Concert on Feb. 10. Proceeds of the student-driven event benefit Sophia’s Heart – a charity that aims to improve the lives of children. When a devastating earthquake hit Haiti in 2010, killing thousands, people from all over reached out to those in need, including Greendale students. The benefit concert tradition stemmed from a group of Greendale Middle School students who felt compelled to help the cause. Each year, students from almost every grade level meet, hold auditions, organize a concert at the high school and donate the profits to a charity.  In the last two years, they’ve raised over $2,200. Digital Music Lab and Recording Studio at Greendale Middle School

Education Foundation of Greendale, Friends of Music and Greendale School District worked together to sponsor the lab.

The Education Foundation of Greendale, along with support from Friends of Music and Greendale School District, sponsored a Digital Music Lab and Recording Studio at Greendale Middle School.   The lab features an electric keyboard, electric drum kit, professional grade microphones for recording live sound, music recording and production software such as Garageband, and a subscription to Smartmusic software.  The digital music authoring lab and recording studio enables students to create or compose music using the newest technology that is available in the industry.  It also gives students the opportunity to record their own vocal and instrumental performances. PHOTOS: Welcoming Back Greendale High & Middle School Students

Students start hitting the books today.

Although it felt like summer, today was the start of the 2011-2012 school year for the Greendale School District At both the middle school and high school, the halls buzzed with students reuniting with friends. Staff were on hand to answer questions.  When asked what they most looked forward to today, most high school students said they wanted to see their friends.  For new sixth graders, the biggest challenge was figuring out how to open thier lockers.
