Check out the 8th consecutive state champs marching band as it rehearses for The Bands of America Grand National Championships.
The Greendale Marching Band has done it again and won its eighth consecutive State Championship back in October. The band is now preparing to compete in the The Bands of America Grand National Championships from November 8-10. Over 90 bands will be competing in Indiana. Patch caught up with the band on Saturday morning as they were rehearsing their performance titled Xango, a African god of drums and dance. It should come as no surprise that the Greendale Marching Band won its consecutive eighth state championship in its Class AA division. Greendale placed first with a score of 87.40 at WSMA State Marching competition on Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The team also won Best Musical Presentation, Best Visual Presentation, and Best Colorguard. Community invited to come play bingo at Greendale High School marching band fundraiser.
Greendale High School will hold its third annual 'GHS Band Bingo' night on Saturday, January 21. The event will take place in the high school cafeteria starting at 6 p.m. Partcipants are encouraged to arrive around 5:30 p.m. The event is expected to last until about 8:30 p.m., and is open to community members as well as students and their families. The Bob Kames Foundation will bring its state-licensed Bingo Roadshow featuring two ten-game cash sessions, and participants can play as many bingo cards as they'd like for a variety of prices. At last year's event several people split over $3000 in the progressive jackpot. Most games pay out between $20 and $100. The band won their seventh consecutive title.
November 21, 2011 has been declared as the Greendale High School Marching Band Day in the Village of Greendale by the Board of Trustees. In October the band, under the direction of Band Director Tom Reifenberg and his staff, earned their seventh consecutive Class AA Division First Place Award at this year’s 27th Annual Wisconsin School Music Association’s State Marching Band Championships. The band also won Best Color Guard, Best Percussion and Best Musical Presentation. Eleven high schools competed this weekend.
Greendale High School hosted the annual Preview of Champions marching band competition at Gavinski Stadium on Sunday. Over 2,000 spectators watched 1,800 band students perform from 11 high school bands competed at the event in four divisions. Three special exhibition performances were done by Franklin High School, the Greendale Marching Band and the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire Blugold Marching Band. Greendale High School will host 14 bands in annual "Preview of Champions" marching band competition. The event will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Adults are $7, and kids 12 & under are $5. Gates open at 12 p.m at Gavinski Stadium on Sunday. Come out and support!
