School Credit for Sports at GHS?

The Greendale School Board is mulling a proposal to allow students who participate in co-curricular activities at the high school to use that as a substitute for 0.5 credits of physical education in their junior or senior years.

Students who participate in co-curricular activities at Greendale High School may be able to start using their activities to forego some of their physical education requirements. The Greendale School Board is considering allowing students to allow juniors and seniors who participate in co-curricular activities as a substitute to 0.5 credits of physical education. The substitution can only be used for one semester per school year by the students. School board Vice-President Tom Slota said he wanted to make sure students were not allowed to opt out of swimming classes. Administrators said swimming is taught as part of freshman physical education and those students would not be allowed to use the substitution with the new policy. “I want to …

What do you do about the kids that don't make the team? There are kids that try out but get cut and don't make the team. It's not that they don't want to participate, they've been chosen to not be a part of the team and therefore can't get that credit and have to take the PE class.
