Christmas Tree Trade-In Program Brightens Holiday Season

Donate your old artificial Christmas tree to Treetime Christmas Creations, and receive 15 percent off a new one of your choice.

A Christmas tree is the center of most families holiday decor. But for households who can't afford a holiday tree, many simply go without. An Illinois business has partnered with the Salvation Army to help make a tree a reality for needy families, and this year the program has expanded to the Milwaukee area.  Treetime Christmas Creations and the Salvation Army are teaming up for the second year in a row to gather donated artificial Christmas trees that will go to the less fortunate. Anyone who donates their old tree will receive a 15 percent discount on a new one from Treetime from now until Oct. 31. Honor Flight Asks Residents to 'Do More' this Weekend

Honor Flight launches a new website with information about its upcoming Field of Honor event in Miller Park, including the story of a volunteer who's Honor Flight trip was made possible by friend's donations.

Stars and Stripes Honor Flight is asking the public to share veterans' stories this weekend as a way to help spread the word and honor the sacrifices made by these soldiers. As part of the organizations "#DoMore" campaign, the group has issued its Memorial Day Challenge of getting, "50,000 views for this video about Harley-riding Ryan Jazak, who accompanied a vet on an Honor Flight with the support of his brother serving in Afghanistan," according to the website. Late Friday afternoon, the video had just under 2,000 views. The challenge is also additional promotion for the Stars and Stripes upcoming Field of Honor event in Miller Park.
