THIS INSPIRING STORY BROUGHT TO YOU BY GRAPE-NUTS

How Danny Gokey Overcame One of Life's Toughest Moments

To honor the memory of his late wife, "American Idol" singer turned the tragedy into a national foundation that is helping children and the less fortunate. Sponsored by Grape-Nuts.

About this sponsorship: In honor of the 60th anniversary of Sir Edmund Hillary’s historic ascent of Mount Everest, Patch and Grape-Nuts are teaming up to highlight those who inspire people around them to climb their own mountains. Danny Gokey is living the American Dream. He was a choir director at his local Milwaukee church when he auditioned for "American Idol," finished in third place in 2009, and parlayed that into a successful country music career in Nashville. Gokey has a new wife, an infant son and a book ("Hope In Front of Me") expected to be published in October. But with all his success, Gokey still faces the challenge of honoring the memory of his first wife, Sophia, who died young due to complications from a congenital heart …

It jealousy, Nancy. Plain jealousy. What people are really saying when they chose to cut down someone they have never met who has more success than them is, "Wow, you came from relatively nothing and made your own name for yourself and here I sit, faceless behind a computer screen passing judgement because I am jealous of your success." Well, at least that's the way I see it.   more ›

Jordin Sparks Dishes On Third Album While at Southridge Mall

American Idol winner Jordin Sparks visited Greendale over the weekend to promote her new fragrance at Southridge Boston Store.

Everyone, be jealous. I got to meet Jordin Sparks. That’s right, I got to sit next to the winner of the sixth season of American Idol. All humor aside, Jordin was one of the sweetest, most energetic people I have ever met. The 22-year-old recording artist, songwriter, and actress was a ball of energy as she sat down with me Friday in Southridge Boston Store, where she was promoting her new fragrance Ambition. I was starstruck. Who wouldn’t be with a beautiful and talented person like JORDIN SPARKS? I managed to keep my composure and act professional. Here's how it went: Me: Tell me about your fragrance. Jordin: This is my third one. Now that I have done the first two — I love the other two — for me it's just being involved in the process. …

Singer Danny Gokey Says 'It Could Be Time for a Change' in the White House

Former "Idol" star, who performed at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, says he is more aware of politics than ever before.

TAMPA, FL -- When you think about presidential politics, the name "Danny Gokey" isn't the first thing that comes to mind. And to be honest, politics has never really been on the mind of Gokey, either — at least not until the former "American Idol" star got married in January to model Leyicet Peralta. "I’ve never been a student of politics, but my wife and I have differing views, so it has made me really look at what I have always believed," Gokey told Patch shortly after performing on the floor of the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night. "You know, we’re raised a certain way and we tend to believe things that our parents tell us. "This is the first time that I’ve really taken a hard look at our system, and I kind of am taking…

Reality TV Casting Call: American Idol Producer Looking for Family-Run Businesses

American Idol Producer Nigel Lythgoe is looking for a family run business to feature in a new reality series, but not just any business. This new show will have a twist.

Wanna be on a TV reality show? Nigel Lythgoe, producer of the hit reality TV shows, "So You Think You Can Dance" and "American Idol" is casting for a new reality show about a family run business. It's no secret that family dynamics can be dramatic. But Lythgoe is taking the drama a step further by profiling a business run by a family that includes someone who's been diagnosed with a medical disorder.  According to casting producer Michael Warwick, the goal of the show is to show America how one person’s “disorder” is another man’s “success.” The series will take viewers into the lives of a family that works together and supports each other running a family business. Producers say they're looking for men and women of all ages whose special …
