Growing up in Greendale, my father and class teacher Richard Bergner taught me that you may be aRead More special son, but not a special student.
John Bergner June 13, 2013 at 09:33 pm
He was my gym teacher and dad and once a month the class would have coed squarre dancing and weRead More looked forward to that day because you could pick out your female partner.
John Bergner June 13, 2013 at 09:45 pm
Except for one problem, you had to pass your gym attire inspection first. We all had to bring outRead More our shirt, shorts, supporter, socks, shoes, deodorant, soapand soap dish. It turns out I lost my soap dish and chose to run into my dads office and proceed into his personal shower and grab his soap dish. As I was leaving he asked what I was doing and I said I needed his soap dish for inspection. Before I could take another step he told me to return the soap dish to his shower and go back in line without it. I failed to pass the inspection and I had to sit out and watch all the other kids dance. At that time I felt betrayed, but many years later I realized how special it was for me not to use that soap dish. John Bergner

We need to move the deer crossing signs. It is crazy the state allows deer crossing on such highRead More traffic areas. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CI8UPHMzZm8

Thanks for posting the problem areas. With so many people traveling it's good to know where theyRead More are. Anything that helps people not drive live goofs is good. Now, if we could just get people to put their cell phones away while they drive.

I think we just found our Director of Marketing...what do you charge?
Jason Patzfahl May 28, 2013 at 02:42 pm
WPA style statue of Eleanor & FDR. It would be the only such statue in the nation. Plus, she wasRead More ACTUALLY IN Greendale while it was being constructed. Sorry Norman...love your art, but you have NO connection to our village.

A "decent" green market!!?? Our Park & Rec. Director does a great job providing ourRead More village with the Open Market we enjoy every other Saturday. Have you ever tried to book vendors willing and able to show up @ 6 am to set up their booths on a semi-weekly basis? Vendors of fresh produce/products are spread pretty thin these days, with so many other communities now involved in setting up their own green markets, and they are usually held on the same day and at the same time. Last time I checked, there were only so many days/hours in a weekend.

I love the idea! Are you using a local printer or going with an online printer like lulu.com ?Read More Either way, this is great for the community!

We also attended yesterday's celebration. Great day for Greendale. School District was not to beRead More seen. The district administrator was there as his aloof self. The students should have been a part of this wonderful day.
Gloria May 2, 2013 at 10:50 pm
Also, Mr. Hermes was very good and the celebration put on by our Village was just the best.
Jason Dembosky May 3, 2013 at 11:16 pm
A big Thank You to all that attended! I had fun myself, being a volunteer (there were many of us!).Read More It was quite a sight to see all of the dignitaries show up and speak to the public. It is you, the citizens of Greendale, that make this Village so enjoyable to live in. Making the National Historic Landmark is something only you can make happen. Look for a small video clip of Wednesday's event show up soon! But, we're not done yet! August 7-11 is Village Days and will be an even bigger event, starting off with our Retro 40's Night from 5PM-9PM on the 7th. Mark your calendars!

Way to go, Tim!! We couldn't ask for a better, more caring, and more generous neighbor. We witnessRead More just some of the time and effort you put forth as a leader. Your commitment and impact in Scouts, in Greendale, and in our neighborhood cannot even begin to be measured.

Fellow Greendalers come to Village Hall on this fine spring afternoon and join in the 75th wonderfulRead More Greendale years. Onward to another three quarters of a century of Greendale.

So proud of Greendale on this great day! Happy birthday to our Village. It was great to see so manyRead More friends and neighbors this afternoon at the award presentation. However, it was strange that no school leadership was among the invited dignitary delegation -- they had everyone else. I'm guessing things are not so cozy between the schools and our Village. I didn't see any chickens. But, I did see Tharp complete with his usual stand-offish attitude standing in the far back of the crowd. It was just a great day for our Village. The cake was great. John Hermes did a wonderful job as did the Greendale Historical Society. Thank you!
Mercury May 2, 2013 at 12:23 am
Greendalers had a proud day. The real leadership of our fair village were there. Our schoolRead More district had opportunities to be a part of this and choose not to. We must keep our eyes forward and remember our :Official Seal of the Village of Greendale which was designed by Marshall Bartos. The gear in the seal represents the industrial worker; the grain sheaf represents the agricultural worker; the book represents cultural life; and the United States eagle represents "under government guidance. Our Greendale School District will sort itself out eventually.

Yes, we hope that articles like this are printed more in all the areas with Patch. We have had soRead More many relatives in each war, and my husband was in the army, also. He was in the service right between Korea, and Vietnam. It makes sense that Korean vets are being flown to DC, now. Am sorry to say that we do not have many WWII vets with us, any longer. No matter when our men, and women, have served, or are serving, GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU. WE ARE SO PROUD TO HAVE YOU IN THIS COUNTRY.

I just found out that my Dad is going on the June Flight. I couldn't be more proud of him to be ableRead More to go on this journey with his fellow vets. Many thanks to all that have served our country so that we can enjoy the freedoms we do. Living out of State, my only regret is not being able to be there when they depart on their Historic journey and return back home with many renewed brothers in arms friendships...Love you Dad. Your son, Eric (couldn't be prouder of you)

I've only won once when i was younger with anything that had to do with the lottery, because my momRead More told me to scratch off one of her tickets for her and we got $100... never been that lucky again.
