Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center Reaches Phase One Goal of Capital Campaign

Group is now ready to begin phase two of capital campaign.

The Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center is one step closer to moving into its new home.

The Center, currently located at Southridge Mall in Greendale, announced it has raised the $40K needed for the downpayment and closing costs on its new building in Greenfield.

The MARC was told in September that its lease would not be renewed because it did not fit with the mall's business plan. It had been located at the mall since 2006.

Phase two of the group's capital campaign will focus on raising $70K to cover all moving, renovation, and supply/equipment purchases. The group's goal is to raise the needed money by December 31.

The third and final phase of the campaign will raise money to satisfy the mortgage balance.

The MARC has had help in reaching its fundraising goals so far by featuring a shelter cat named 'Daniel' who has 26 toes. It has asked donors to consider donating $26 in honor of Daniel.

According to the group, there are several other ways for donors to get involved in the campaign, including buying engraved memorial brick pavers which will be installed at the new property.

The MARC is an independent non-profit no-kill humane society which takes in adoptable animals from other humane societies and animal control agencies that might otherwise be euthanized due to lack of space and resources.
