Deadline Coming Up for Public Celebration's Holiday Home Decorating Contest

Greendale's Public Celebrations Committee is looking to revive an old village tradition.

Have you already started planning your holiday light display for this year? Are you known on your block as having the house that best rivals that of the Griswold family in the 1989 movie classic 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

If so, your efforts might just pay off in a new contest being planned by the Village of Greendale. The Greendale Public Celebrations Committee is holding a residential "Holiday Lights Contest" sponsored by the Greendale Entertainment Association.

Greendale residents would need to fill out the attached registration form by Dec. 2 in order to participate in the contest and turn it in to the .

Prizes would be gift certificates to businesses in the Village of Greendale and would be in the amounts of first place - $100, second place - $50 and third place - $25.

Judging will take place on the weekend of Dec. 10. Participants need to have their lights on the evenings of Dec. 10 and 11. Homes will be judged based on curbside appeal only. Judges will not enter the property.
