Laser Light Show to Accompany Village Days in 2013

Greendale trustees approve hiring a company to run a laser light show as part of an extended Village Days program next year to celebrate the 75th year of the village.

Greendale is adding a little pizzazz to its 75th Anniversary celebration with the addition of a laser light show.

The Greendale Village Board gave unanimous approval Tuesday to hire Connecticut Lasers to run a laser light show on Aug. 8 in front of village hall. The show will last one hour and be projected down Broad Street.

“I think it’s going to be a great addition to the event,” Trustee James Birmingham said.

Village Days is scheduled to increase from three days to five days in 2013 and the laser light show will be added as part of the additional days. The village’s Public Celebrations Committee has raised the $16,000 needed to pay for the event.

The committee did look into other companies to perform the light show, but most others were not interested in doing a smaller event, while another company quoted $30,000 to do the performance.

Board Street will need to be closed as part of the event and Connecticut Lasers must gain approval from the FAA for the show to take place.
