Greendale Issues Ban on Burning and Fireworks

Greenfield, Franklin, Hales Corners and Greendaleare participating in the ban as a result of the dry conditions. Violations will result in citations.

The Village of Greendale along with neighboring municipalities has issued a temporary ban on open burning and fireworks.

Hales Corners Fire Chief Jankowski, Greendale Fire Chief Saidler, and Greenfield Fire Chief Cohn joined Franklin Fire Chief Martins in issuing an immediate ban on burning and the use of all fireworks, including sparklers and caps.

Franklin has had ban in place since June 15. This ban is the result of severe drought conditions. Burning and the use of fireworks would constitute a public nuisance affecting safety.

This ban includes fires in all outdoor fireplaces, pits, camp fires and the private use of consumer fireworks including sparklers, caps and novelty fireworks. In order to prevent fires, the community’s police departments will strictly enforce these restrictions, according to a release.

Violators of this ban and adults who permit the use of any kind of fireworks, including caps and sparklers, or burning by minors will receive citations. This ban does not prohibit residents from using contained grills for cooking food. The ban will remain in place until further notice in all these communities.

The Greendale fireworks show will go on as scheduled.

 

Greendale: Individuals may call the fire department or Chief Saidler at 414-423- 2131 with questions concerning the continuation of the ban. When the ban is lifted, it will be posted on the Village of Greendale websiteCurrently, The Village plans on conducting its scheduled fireworks display on July 4. 

Hales Corners: Individuals may call the Fire Department or Chief Jankowski at 414-529-6168 with questions concerning the continuation of the ban. When the ban is lifted, it will be posted on the Village of Hales Corners website. As a reminder, the burning of leaves and lawn waste is prohibited by the Village. The Village has been watering the launch and usual fall out areas and plans on conducting its scheduled fireworks display on July 4

Greenfield: Individuals may call the Fire Department Battalion Chief at 414-761-5306 with questions concerning the continuation of the ban. When the ban is lifted, it will be posted on the City of Greenfield website. Currently, The City plans on conducting its scheduled fireworks display on July 4. 

Franklin: Individuals may call the Fire Department or Chief Martins at 414-425-1420 with questions concerning the continuation of the ban. When the ban is lifted, it will be posted on the City of Franklin website. Currently, The City plans on conducting its scheduled fireworks display on July 4.
