Greendale Football Experts Predict the Super Bowl

Some of the best football minds in Greendale forecast the Packers versus the Steelers.

Here at Greendale Patch we wanted to hear from some of the top football minds in the city with their thoughts on Super Bowl XLV.

The two week wait is almost over, but we couldn't wait for Sunday! So here you have it, four of the top football minds in Greendale tell you what is going to happen when the Packers and Steelers kick off.

Rodney Mattrisch from the Greendale Panther Touchdown Club at Greendalefootball.com

"I have to say that after we lost to the Lions, I didn't think we would even make the playoffs.  Then over the next few weeks, I thought the Packers were playing the best football in the league.  For them to have to win the rest of the games, most of them on the road no less, I had a change in attitude. In looking at what both teams bring to the table, I have to go with the Packers.  Rogers is the total package when it comes to a quarterback.  I think what separates him from everyone else is that he has a very strong arm, he has eyes in the back of his head and can sense pressure, he can be very elusive, he isn't afraid to take off running up field, and most of all, he has quite the stable of receivers.  The run game was an issue for a while there but that has seemed to come around and just in time too.

Rodney's Pick: Packers 27 - Steelers 21

"I predict the final score will be 23 Steelers 34 Packers The MVP is tough to call, Rodgers could have a field day against the Steelers weak secondary (yeah I said weak). With 4 legit receivers to throw to it could be an aerial assault, if the line holds their ground just enough to help Starks get some yards. That will keep the D honest, in return buying Rodgers some time for the passing game. On the other side of the ball with Pitts center out of the game it is going to expose a weakness in the middle giving Raji the opportunity to wreak some major havoc. Pittsburgh will have to double team him and that is going to allow what could be a linebacker MVP in Clay Matthews to not only knock Big Ben into "la la land" but I'm thinking fumble recovery for a TD! All in all it's going to be a great game and the Packers will more than cover! MVP predictions would be either Rodgers or Matthews."

Jeramy's Pick: Packers 34 - Steelers 23
MVP: Aaron Rodgers or Clay Matthews

Rob Stoltz Head Football Coach of the Greendale High School Panthers

"The Pittsburgh Steeler defense will get to Rodgers early, throwing his confidence.  On the heels on the bashing he took against the Bears in the final three quarters, this will not be good for Packer Nation.  Big Ben continues his legacy, performing with a cool that is the envy of many.  Ben will make enough plays, several which either exploit man coverage from the pocket or as a result of Ben's strength and mobility.  The Packers will get to him, but not enough to offset the big plays he makes.  Mendenhall will prove to be the next in line of lunch pail, hard-nosed Pittsburgh RB's that create space in the middle for the likes of Ward and Miller.  Throw in Pittsburgh's experience in the Super Bowl, and too many factors point to a win for them.  Oh, and count on an attempted gadget play from the Steelers (maybe two of em).  The Packers should be ready for this, however."

Rob's Pick: Pittsburgh 27 - Green Bay 20
MVP:  Ben Roethlisberger

Keith Ringelberg  Greendale Panther Touchdown Club at Greendalefootball.com

"With Dom Capers Zone blitz packages Woodson is going to have a few tackles for loss as well as a few QB sacks, and with some of that confusion will come with a pick 6!  This is going to be one of the great defensive matchups in Super Bowl history.  This game will not put you to sleep and it will go down to the wire, with Green Bay once again stopping the Pittsburgh’s Offense late in the 4th quarter to seal the “W” and bring the trophy home!!!"

Keith's Pick: Packers 26 Steelers 19
MVP: Charles Woodson

There you have it! Three out of four tell you that the Packers are going to win. Lets hope that holds true. GO PACK GO!
