Fireworks Expected for Week 2 Greendale-Franklin Matchup

The nonconference game Friay is one of the most-anticipated of the season. In other action, Martin Luther hosts Kettle Moraine Lutheran.

The big-play Greendale Panthers football team will match wits with another opponent that thrives on big plays in the second week of the season Friday.

After beating Cedarburg, 51-33, Aug. 22, the Panthers will host Franklin (1-0) at 7 p.m. at Gavinski Field on Friday, Aug. 30.

In the season opener, Greendale quarterback Josh Ringelberg passed for six touchdowns, including strikes of 44, 60 and 67 yards.

The game will also serve as a big fundraiser for the local non-profit organization Kayla’s Krew.

Franklin defeated Sussex Hamilton, 44-16, in the first week of the season behind 330 passing yards and two touchdowns from Sean McGuire.

The teams last played in the season opener of the 2011 season, a 17-10 Franklin victory.

Martin Luther aims at 2-0 start

In other local action, Martin Luther will look to improve to 2-0 when it hosts Kettle Moraine Lutheran at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Spartans kicked off the 2013 season with a 37-12 victory over Milwaukee Madison on Aug. 23, behind 146 passing yards from quarterback Ben Horn, who threw two touchdown passes.

 Kettle Moraine Lutheran lost its opener, 28-14, to Two Rivers.
