School Board Positions Reorganized; Open Board Position

Joe Crapitto is now the School Board President. There is also an open school board position.

There has been a switcheroo in the Greendale School Board.

The Greendale Schools Board of Education had its annual reorganization meeting on Monday.

Tom Slota and Joe Crapitto have switched board positions. Joe Crapitto is now the School Board President and Tom Slota is the Vice President. Victoria McCormick will be Clerk and Anne Szcygiel will keep the position of Treasurer.

"Each of these is done every year," Slota said. "You shouldn’t get the idea that you will be in the same office forever. Being president is a little bit more work and it's fun too…It’s something other board members should get to experience. It’s a different perspective."

One board position remains open after Jim Schutte, who was appointed to the board in 2005, resigned his position on April 2. Superintendent Bill Hughes said at the meeting that there has been a lot of interest in the position. Those interested can apply for the position and will then be interviewed by the School Board.

The board hopes to have someone appointed by June. The appointed person will serve until the next election in 2012.
