School Board Candidates Forum To Be Held in March

Six candidates are vying for three seats on the Greendale School Board in the April 2 election.

Greendale voters will have a chance next month to hear directly from School Board candidates and see where they stand on their issues.

The League of Women Voters and Greendale Chamber of Commerce are scheduling a forum for March. An exact date has not been set.

Six candidates are vying for three spots on the board. Incumbents Thomas Slota, Victoria McCormick and Melanie Kuzmanovic and challengers Kathleen Weid Vincent, Katie Mevis and Roger Dalkin will be on the ballot in the April 2 general election.

The top two vote-getters will serve three-year terms. The candidate coming in third will serve one year, filling the remainder of Jim Schutte’s term. Kuzmanovic was appointed by the board to fill Schutte’s position this summer.

The chamber and League of Women Voters will also hold a forum for Village Board candidates.

Is the League of Women Voters assisting in this? They usually coordinate with the chamber on these. I hope there is more than one forum - Patch, can you do an in-person candidate forum as well?
Before anybody votes, they should hear from all of the candidates (in person). And this includes me...... Good luck to all.

not sure if League of Women Voters is involved. Will keep you posted if Patch is able to do a forum as well. We've gotten a couple requests so we'll see if we can put one together.

League of Women Voters is involved, just updated the story to reflect that.

I have to agree with Jason on this. The Greendale Patch said earlier this year they would try to host an internet forum for candidates. Say post a question a week for each to answer and then let people respond with some decorum ideally.
Thoughts Mark and Candidates?

I'm looking forward to this forum and the others that are being discussed and planned. I hope to see many community members there - it is so important that the community engage and participate in this process.

We can look up to see who signed a recall of their elected official because of grievances, but weRead More cannot look up who donated large wads of ca$h to the same official's campaign...Thank you GOP for turning that window of open accountability into a one-way mirror with the GOP looking out and everyone else stuck looking inward, wandering why we don't get the same vantage point. A bit hypocritical don't you think? And BTW, your GOP budget just ticked off every principal, superintendent and public school family in the state of WI today. Good luck on that second term of negative growth (-0.74).

Jason- See the IRS for list of donors to pro republican groups. They were illegally collected andRead More distributed. You signed the recall, no one made you do it. Deal with it already and stop changing the subject to interject some off the wall non comparison. ~in solidarity

I think Scott Walker's record speaks for itself in terms of state job growth and misplacedRead More priorities. "Blue fisters" didn't create Scott Walker, he's been a creature of ALEC since the early 1990s. Let's see if he decides to do a Bachmann in 2014. A lot of people who didn't vote in the recall election because they didn't understand/agree may not have voted for him in 2010. Anyone who has a 20-something college grad who can't find a job, male spouse, family member or friend in their 50s who can't find a job, was cut from needed health care benefits, etc., is bound to be looking for better leadership.
