Newsweek Names Greendale High School One of America’s Best High Schools

once again made Newsweek’s list of America’s Best High Schools. 

This year, the list highlights the top 1,000 public high schools in the nation that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads.

Newsweek’s list ranks high schools according to six components: graduation rate, college matriculation rate, AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student, average SAT/ACT scores, average AP/IB/AICE scores and AP courses offered per student.  Greendale High School is leading the way in preparing its students for college and beyond.  It ranks 642nd in the nation and is one out of only 21 schools selected from Wisconsin. 

Greendale High School Principal Steve Lodes notes that it is an honor for the school to be recognized by Newsweek as one of the top public schools in the country.

“It speaks to our focus on career and college readiness, providing quality academic opportunities for all students and also the high expectations set by parents and students,” said Lodes.

Over 90% of Greendale High School’s graduates enroll in higher education and the Class of 2011 received well over 2.3 million dollars in scholarship awards.

“Greendale High School is known for student achievement, instilling a sense of responsibility in our students and strong success in graduates going on to higher education,” said William Hughes, Greendale School District Superintendent.“I commend the faculty and students of Greendale High School for their continued pursuit of academic excellence.”
