New Superintendent to Speak at Chamber Event

Greendale Superintendent John Tharp will speak at Business Chamber event later this month. Tharp was appointed this past summer.

The Greendale Chamber of Commerce will hold an event where people can meet new Superintendent John Tharp.

The event will be on Wednesday, October 24 at 7:30 a.m. at the Greendale School District Offices located at 6801 Southway.

The district office is now located at Greendale High School. As you enter the parking lot, you will see signs directing you to the district office entrance.

Tharp was appointed as Superintendent in August after longtime Superintendent William Hughes resigned.

Well, it will be nice if he brought up the apparently rampant bullying going on in the school district. I'm not forgetting that the people who hired him have apparently allowed a culture of bullying to grow and fester for years. Does he have a probationary period? If cracking down isn't a Fall 2012 semester priority, perhaps the superintendent search will need to be reopened.

Speaking at a private meeting - the Chamber of Commerce. Why not a public meeting? Why not with the school board so they can respond to questions too? There is a big silence from the Greendale Public School District on anything that is controversial or the talk on the street. Aren't only members of the Greendale CofC allowed to attend?

All I know is Dr. Tom Slota was talking all over the G High School that he was of the opinion that the kid who wrote the bomb threat was going to be expelled. Now he is silent. I am glad to announce parents have a candidate who is going to run to defeat Slota. It is time for him to go. He is loud in safe places and in meetings strangely quiet. As a supporter of the Greendale Public School District, Tom Slota will be held accountable and defeated with the purpose of changing the direction of this school district. It was on his term as President that Hughes left Greendale Schools. Would we be in this predicament if Hughes was here. We know not. Once Slota is gone, parents who care about Greendale Public Schools will have enough voices to look out for all the kids, not the favored ones.

If what parents saw last night, coming to this meeting is a total wast of time. The Greendale Public Schools needs to get this right very soon. Dr. Tharp's presentation was pretty bad last night at Greendale Middle School and the word on the street is the school district needs a do over fast.

We can look up to see who signed a recall of their elected official because of grievances, but weRead More cannot look up who donated large wads of ca$h to the same official's campaign...Thank you GOP for turning that window of open accountability into a one-way mirror with the GOP looking out and everyone else stuck looking inward, wandering why we don't get the same vantage point. A bit hypocritical don't you think? And BTW, your GOP budget just ticked off every principal, superintendent and public school family in the state of WI today. Good luck on that second term of negative growth (-0.74).

Jason- See the IRS for list of donors to pro republican groups. They were illegally collected andRead More distributed. You signed the recall, no one made you do it. Deal with it already and stop changing the subject to interject some off the wall non comparison. ~in solidarity

I think Scott Walker's record speaks for itself in terms of state job growth and misplacedRead More priorities. "Blue fisters" didn't create Scott Walker, he's been a creature of ALEC since the early 1990s. Let's see if he decides to do a Bachmann in 2014. A lot of people who didn't vote in the recall election because they didn't understand/agree may not have voted for him in 2010. Anyone who has a 20-something college grad who can't find a job, male spouse, family member or friend in their 50s who can't find a job, was cut from needed health care benefits, etc., is bound to be looking for better leadership.
