Greendale Students, Educator Receive Herb Kohl Foundation Awards

The $1,000 awards are being made to teachers, their schools, and graduating high school students.

One Greendale student and two educators from the district will receive a 2013 Herb Kohl Foundation award.

The $1,000 awards are being made to 100 teachers, their schools, and 187 graduating high school students throughout the state.

The following Greendale student and teachers have been chosen:

Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Excellence Scholars 2013

  • Katharine Loomis, Greendale High School

Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellows 2013

  • Colleen Korpal, College Park Elementary
  • Daniel Rogaczewski, Greendale High School

Excellence Scholarship recipients have demonstrated excellence in the academic arena and high motivation to achieve, have displayed a broad range of activity and leadership outside the academic setting, and have shown strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond.

Excellence Scholarship and Fellowship recipients are selected by a statewide committee composed of civic leaders, and representatives of education-related associations and the program’s co-sponsors: The Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Wisconsin Council of Religious and Independent Schools (WCRIS), and regional Cooperative Educational Service Agencies (CESA).

Fellowship recipients are chosen for their superior ability to inspire a love of learning in their students, their ability to motivate others, and for their leadership and service within and outside the classroom. Each Fellow’s school will also receive a $1,000 grant.

Another sign that our schools here in Greendale are continuing our tradition of excellence. Thank you to all of the dedicated teachers, support staff and of course, the engaged parents and our school board members.

Sounds like Patzfahl will be voting for the school board members instead of the challengers Weid Vincent, Mevis, and Dalkin.
