Greendale Speech Pathologist Dies Suddenly

Judith Towne, 69, worked for the Greendale School District for 21 years and was active in the community.

A Greendale School District speech pathologist died suddenly Saturday morning at the age of 69.

Judith Towne was active in the community and "known as a thoughtful, caring person who dedicated her life to helping others," according to her obituary.

She was in her 21st year as a speech pathologist in the school district, where she helped kids from early childhood through high school. She was named Teacher of the Year in 2008 and volunteered for many organizations, including as president of the PTO and Greendale Playschool as well as the Newcomes Club and Greendale Swim Club.

Towne is survived by her husband, four children, two grandchildren, her mother, seven brothers and sisters, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

A visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at Max A. Sass and Sons, Greenridge Chapel, 4747 S. 60th St. Family and friends will join for shared remembrances at 6 p.m.
