Greendale Schools Score Above Average in State Concepts Exam

Greendale School District students scored above the state average with scores that range from 85 to 96 percent proficient across all grade levels.

The Greendale School’s Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exam scores continue to be above state average with scores that range from 85 to 96 percent proficient across all grade levels.

"In Greendale, standardized testing is one of the components used to evaluate students and curriculum," said Superintendent William Hughes in a release."It is an important way for parents, citizens and educators to understand what and how students are learning. When student performance, spending per pupil and household income were considered, Greendale continues to be one of the top school districts in the region as recognized by Milwaukee Magazine in its April 2012 issue."

The WKCE was administered to students in third through eighth and tenth grades in November 2011. Third, fifth, sixth, and seventh grade students were tested in reading and math. Students in fourth, eighth and 10th grade were tested in reading, language arts, writing, math, science and social studies.

“Growth over the last few years can be tied to our concentration on reading development and skills, such as using independent reading and individual reading conferencing with students,” said Amidzich.  “Students that first experienced these changes in reading are now performing particularly well at the high school level.”
