9th Annual Civil War Encampment at Trimborn Farm

Join the Milwaukee County Historical Society at Trimborn Farm as we commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. On Friday evening, October 5, join renowned Civil War historian Lance Herdegen as he discusses his brand new book, The Iron Brigade in the Civil War: Bull Run to Appomattox, 1861-65. Following Herdegen’s lecture, join the military and civilian re-enactors in tours of their campsites – bring a flashlight and a jacket! On Saturday, October 6, beginning at 10:00am, step into the world of soldiers, artillery, sutlers, civilians, and camp followers. Re-enactors will discuss the soldiering experience and demonstrate weapons, including an actual Civil War cannon, and other equipment, while civilians will share what was life was like on the homefront. Learn about the role of women in the Civil War through the story of Cordelia Harvey and other women, and what role Civil War veterans played in American life following the war. For a full schedule of events, please visit www.milwaukeehistory.net/programs.

Admission: $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors, free for children 12 and under.
