Canterbury's Musical Talent Performs For a Full House

Winter concert brings joy and high-energy to families.

On Monday night kindergarten through fifth grade students from Canterbury Elementary performed their winter concert at Greendale High School's auditorium.

Over 900 people attended the concert, with some parents standing in the aisles and doorways to hear the kids sing about wintery, holiday  cheer.

The first half of the concert featured fifth graders, fourth graders, kindergarteners and first graders, which was followed by the performances of second and third graders. After intermission, the school's orchestra, choir and band performed.

As one first grade boy said, "That was so awesome! We were famous!" --  famous in the hearts of Canterbury Elementary families.

The winter concert has been an annual event since the school opened in the 1960s, according to principal Christian Pleister, who organized the concert along with the elementary music staff. "The kids rehearse on a weekly basis all Fall," said Pleister.
