Adult Psychiatrist Joins Rogers' Staff in Milwaukee

A board-eligible psychiatrist, Hemalatha Rajanna, M.D., has joined the medical staff at Rogers Memorial Hospital in West Allis, Wis., where she will treat adult patients in the inpatient andpartial hospital programs.

A graduate of the Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences in India, Dr. Rajanna completed her residency in psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Affiliated Hospitals in Milwaukee. Most recently, she served as a staff psychiatrist in the Women’s Treatment Unit at the Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division. She has also helped to teach medical students and paramedical professionals.

“My practice is evidence-based and I have specialized in treating major psychiatric illness, including psychotic disorders,” Dr. Rajanna said. “My approach to therapy is totally focused on the patient; I believe getting to the root of a disorder comes from taking the time to really listen to a patient’s story.”

Licensed in Wisconsin, Dr. Rajanna is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association and the Wisconsin Psychiatric Association. She has delivered many professional presentations in the United States and the United Kingdom on a variety of topics, including one on stigma and mental health education for the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
