Daddy-Yo's Frozen Yogurt Could Open in Area in June

A few months back, John and Jen Mosier pulled out a map, plotted out where other frozen yogurt establishments had popped up in the Milwaukee area and found a nice-sized hole in the Greenfield and Greendale area.

Now, the Mosiers are just a few weeks away from opening their very own build-your-own frozen yogurt shop near the busy shopping corridor of 76th Street.

The Greenfield Common Council unanimously approved a special-use permit allowing the Mosiers to open Daddy-Yo’s Frozen Yogurt at 4874 S. 74th St. in the Greenfield Place Shopping Center, just north of Southridge Mall.

John Mosier said remodeling of the leased strip mall space would begin in the next week or two and that he hoped to open Daddy-Yo’s doors in June.

Mosier said the idea for Daddy-Yo’s came from a visit to Yo Mama’s, a similarly named frozen yogurt establishment in Wauwatosa that opened in 2011.

“They brought frozen yogurt to Milwaukee,” Mosier said. “We went there and really enjoyed it. We said having a frozen yogurt place of our own would be really neat, but we put the idea on the backburner.”

The Mosiers recently moved to Oak Creek and hoped to open a frozen yogurt shop in the new Drexel Town Square, but that project is a few years away from completion. In the meantime, YoFresh Yogurt Café opened in Oak Creek, and the Mosiers did not want to open a similar shop in the same city.

“We started brainstorming with friends,” John Mosier said. “We got out a map and plotted out where there were and weren’t frozen yogurt shops. … (the Greenfield location) has really good parking, the rent fit in our budget and everything worked out really well, one thing after another.”

Daddy-Yo’s would be the first frozen yogurt shop in Greenfield, though there are several others in surrounding communities.
