Village Approves Step Up to Better Health Walk

The event is aimed at raising awareness of brain cancer and techniques for healthy living. Proceeds will go towards Step Up for Better Health initiatives and the American Brain Tumor Association.

The 14th annual Step Up to Better Health Community Walk will be held in Greendale on June 16.

The Greendale Village Board approved the walk on Tuesday.

The walk starts at the , and there are three route options available: one, two or three miles. All routes take walkers on sidewalks and paths and will not require any street closures. Crossing guards will be provided at street crossings.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. June 16 and the walk begins at 9:30 a.m.

Step Up for Health Initiatives will receive 25% of the proceeds and proceeds the American Brain Tumor Association will receive 75%.

“Because of the interest of many citizens in brain tumors and the effects of this diagnosis on the patient, family and friends, we have partnered with the American Brain Tumor Association to raise awareness and money for this organization as well as increase participation on our event,” wrote organizers in a letter to the village.

This year organizers are also partnering up with the Greendale Village Business Association. The event will begin 30 minutes later than last year so Downtown Greendale stores will be open when the walk ends. Participants will be provided with discounts and gifts at the Downtown stores after completion of the walk.
