State Rep. Jeff Stone Clarifies Statement on Campaign Flier

Due to printer's error, campaign material incorrectly conveys Republican's position on Act 10, the collective bargaining law.

State Rep. Jeff Stone, who is seeking re-election in the 82nd Assembly District, issued this statement Friday afternoon regarding a campaign mailing piece that included extraneous words prefacing a quote from Bill Smith of the Wisconsin National Federation for Independent Business.

I know that at this point of the election cycle, printers and mail houses are working around the clock to meet the needs of their customers who are in the political business. As a printer myself, I understand that errors can be made working in such a time sensitive environment.

Unfortunately, the vendor I use made one of these mistakes and put out a campaign lit piece which inaccurately includes the extraneous phrase “Wants to Repeal Act 10”. To be clear: I voted for Act 10 and will NOT be working to change this law. My graphic designer has informed me that the phrase was inadvertently inserted while making changes after my final approval of the order. I became aware of this error once the printed material began arriving in the mail today.

I apologize for any confusion that this may have created and want the voters in my district to know that I do not hide from my positions on the issues nor the votes I have taken.

This one has got to be my favorite.... "For years, LaMonte Harris was the right-hand man to Milwaukee Ald. Michael McGee Jr., rallying support and proclaiming the innocence of the now-incarcerated politician. Harris, who has also spent time behind bars, says he lent a helping hand to a mix of other troubled Milwaukee candidates, including former School Board member Charlene Hardin, onetime Ald. Paul Henningsen and disgraced ex-Sen. Gary George. Quite the résumé. But here's the stunner: The ex-felon has now turned up working for the campaign of state Rep. Jeff Stone in the race for county executive." http://www.jsonline.com/watchdog/noquarter/118749854.html

I missed that too. I was not interested in Jeff Stone for any office so I never paid any attention to anything he said or did. I can see how that would be a favorite of yours however. What a bonehead move. This guy has them all doesn't he? . What a bonehead move.

Do these replyers really think that if someone said they would repeal Act 10, would get elected?

Yea.

Long ago, when in fact he had an opponent (wow he really did), his chief surrogate removed his opponent's literature from the table at a forum held at Barnes and Noble.
