Two vacancies on the Milwaukee County Board will be filled through special elections in April, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele announced on Monday.
The elections will yield replacements for supervisors Joe Sanfelippo and Nikiya Harris, both of whom have resigned their seats after winning spots in the state legislature in November.
Sanfelippo’s district included parts of Greenfield.
The special elections will be part of the general elections April 2. If needed, primaries will be held on Feb. 19.
Anyone interested in running for those seats will have to file nomination papers by 5 p.m. on Jan. 15.
Sanfelippo will represent the new 15th Assembly District, which includes parts of New Berlin and West Allis. He had been on the County Board since 2008.
Harris was elected state senator in the 6th District. She joined the County Board in 2010 and had just been re-elected to a four-year term in April.
