Reiman Publications On Boycott List Organized by Walker Opponents; Company Says Group Is Mistaken

A spokesperson says three Walker donors listed as Reiman employees do not work for the company.

A Facebook page with over 20,000 fans is being used to organize a boycott of businesses and organizations that contributed to Gov. Scott Walker's campaign, including Greendale's .

But a company spokesperson said the group that supplied information for the boycott list didn't do their homework.

Organizers of the Facebook page used campaign finance data from the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign to identify companies who donated to Walker. In turn, opponents of the governor's successful to strip public employees of their collective-bargaining rights are using the information to call for a boycott of the companies.

According to the WDC website, three people employed by Reiman Publications jointly contributed about $20,000 to Walker's campaign. The three contributors listed were Thomas L. Curl, Lynda B. Curl and Roberta M. Reiman.

Since 2008, Thomas Curl gave $7,000 to Walker, Lynda Curl gave $3,000 and Roberta Reiman gave $10,000. Roberta Reiman also gave Walker $10,000 in 2005, as did Roy Reiman, according to WDC records

Reiman Publications was bought by Readers Digest a few years ago.

A spokesperson for Readers Digest and Reiman Publications said Tuesday the recent donors to Walker no longer work for the company and are mistakenly listed as such in WDC's records.

Susan Russ, a Reiman Publications representative, said they noticed a few weeks ago that the people were wrongly listed as Reiman employees. The company is currently working to correct the mistake.

Russ said that Reiman Publications does not contribute to political campaigns and is not taking a stance on the budget repair bill.

Reiman is the second Greendale-based company to come under attack by group looking to strike back against Walker's supporters.

M&I Bank's Greendale branch, which is also on the list, was vandalised over the weekend with spray painted graffiti reading words like, "Traitor," and "Unions are Forever," as well as profanity.

WDC is a nonpartisan organization based in Madison. It's mission is to follow campaign finance donations to state politicians and create online databases for citizens to search who is giving what to elected officials.
