Panther Pub and Eatery Gets Go-Ahead From Planning Commission

The planned Greendale Panthers-themed restaurant will fit 95 people and include an outdoor dining patio.

A is one step closer to becoming a reality.

The Planning Commission unanimously voted Wednesday night to recommend the Village Board approve the Panther Pub and Eatery application.

The restaurant, planned for the former Associated Bank on Broad Street, will fit about 95 people and will include a 40-person outdoor dining patio.

While the restaurant requested the maximum allowable hours of operation, commissioners recommended hours to be similar to competing Village Center restaurants, and . Owner Mike Drilling agreed. Village staff will come back to the Board with a recommendation on hours of operation once they confirm the other restaurants' open times.

The restaurant plans to employ between 40 and 50 employees, with full- and part-time positions.

Parking needs will be satisfied by the existing parking in the Village Center, as well as, the Municipal Parking Lot on Parking Street.

Drilling said in August that the restaurant is scheduled to open next summer.

As a Greendale High School graduate and eight-year assistant baseball coach, Drilling wants this restaurant to be a source of fundraising for various Greendale non-profits and athletics.

Drilling said the menu would be simple with good and consistent food.

The Village Board will review the recommendation at a meeting on Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. at Village Hall.

I don't understand how people have such a problem with a restaurant.

Its not a sports bar, and it already has a building to be in. So you wouldnt have to worry about the library moving for The Panther Pub. What i ment, is to move the library to make better use of the space for some more shopping areas, stores... etc. That is what i ment. Also like the cookie place over in the old sentry building.. they have such wonderful cookies and such that it would be great it they would get a little closer in the action, then off to the side. And with the size of the library, you get really get a number of stores in there... it would be great to do almost like a small little mall inside... kinda like the streets of old milwaukee.. but the "streets of Ol' Greendale". But you know what Ms. Misto.. what they could do is open a massage parlor and call it the Panther Rub.. only kidding.. just couldnt pass that one up. I think was people are missing... is the Panther pub is going to be like the Chancery Pub... which is a great resturant.. with burgers, appitizers and food on that order....... its not just a bar... Ricardos and Joeys also have a bar.. but you dont say nothing about them. Thats because they also have great food too.

I am thinking of the statue of the little girl. Ricardos and Joey Girards are enough. Love them both, but to have have a bar open right next to the Library during some of the same hours of operation (library open until 8:00 in the evening) is not responsible. I see children coming and going on bikes all the time. How is it, that nobody sees this..or even cares. Where I grew up, there was a bar on every corner. It was not a fun place to grow up. Oh well..whatever! Enough said. It's your village. At least I had a few years to enjoy it.

One of the main village resident issues is business hours. Why should the new restaurant be asked to align its hours with Ricardo's and Bartolatta's?

I think your problem is you keep calling it a bar. Its not a bar. It is another resturant. You keep saying bar bar bar.... The place you grew up was just bars... i think that is why you keep asking is nobody else sees this... thats because you are the only one calling it a bar. Maybe you have to rethink it and call it another resturant.
