Republicans were able to successfully retain the majority of Senate seats after the recall elections last night.

In total six Republicans were up for recall and only two were defeated leaving the State Senate house with 17 Republicans and 16 Democrats.

Lazich believes this election demonstrates that the voters have sided with Republicans.

"The voters of Senate District 28 made it very clear they approve the Republican agenda of creating jobs and reducing government spending," said Lazich in an e-mail response to Patch. "They made this clear by not allowing my recall.  It is great that via the results of the recall elections, the State of Wisconsin will remain in the hands of State Senators that are like-minded to the residents of the Senate District I represent.  The State of Wisconsin will be able to keep in place the provisions of the budget repair bill and the state budget."
