Investigation Continues on the Cause of Coliform in Greendale's Water

Village officials are investigating the cause of the bacteria in the water that led to a boil/bottled water advisory.

The cause behind the presence of coliform bacteria in Greendale's drinking water is being investigated said Village Manager Todd Michaels at the Tuesday, Oct. 4 Village Board meeting.

Village officials issued the boil/bottled water advisory on Sunday, Oct. 2 afterin the village’s drinking water supply.

The advisory was lifted Tuesday, Oct. 4 after the village received additional lab results that were negative for total coliform in the drinking water.

The Department of Natural Resources used email to inform the village of the presence of bacteria and the precautionary boil/bottled water advisory around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, said Village President John Hermes at the meeting. Michaels then made the announcement through news outlets and by posting it on the Village website around 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.
