Greenfield Schools Hire Greendale Judge Kapocius as HR Director

Kapocius, Greendale resident and HR director for Whitefish Bay schools, has a background in both law and public school administration.

The Greenfield School District hired Greendale Municipal Judge Mark S. Kapocius Monday, finishing off a round of new administrative hires in Greenfield.

Monday's School Board meeting began with welcoming two recently hired administrators — Superintendent Lisa Elliott and Director of Business Services Amy Kohl — for their first board meeting. Kapocius was the latest administrative hire as part of an overhaul that began with former superintendent Conrad Farner's resignation.

"I'm excited about Greenfield's new leadership in place and rebuilding the district's infrastructure," Kapocius said.

Kapocius is also an elected official, serving as municipal judge in Greendale where he is a resident. He wanted to assure readers that he is not a full-time judge, as court sessions happen only once per week.

"I consider it a public service more than a job — just like someone who serves on the village board of trustees," Kapocius said. "It's an opportunity for me to serve the public based on my legal experience."

His "day job" is director of human resources and special services for the Whitefish Bay School District.

Kapocius has degrees from the University of Wisconsin and Marquette University, and his experience in education began as a counselor at Whitefish Bay Middle School. Then, as a counselor at Wauwatosa East High School, he began working toward his law degree.

He also gained human resources experience in Elmbrook and Germantown schools before returning to Whitefish Bay.

Kapocius said the proximity to home and focus on human resources led him to pursue the Greenfield position.

The board also hired Patricia Ball as director of curriculum, instruction and assessment, along with new teachers for various schools in the district.
