Greendale's Thomas McAdams Appointed As Milwaukee County Judge

After serving in the Milwaukee County DA's office for years, Greendale's Thomas McAdams is appoint to be Milwaukee County Judge.

Gov. Scott Walker appointed Greendale resident Thomas McAdams on Tuesday to be the judge for the Milwaukee County Circuit Court, Branch 7.

McAdams will replace Judge Jean DiMotto, who is retiring on June 6.

“Commissioner McAdams’s experience is extensive and impressive,” Walker said.  “Commissioner McAdams dedicated his career to serving the people of Milwaukee and Wisconsin, and I am confident that he will be a fair and thoughtful judge who respects the Constitution and the rule of law.”

Former Governor Jim Doyle appointed McAdams to be a tax appeals commissioner in 2008. In that role, McAdams did administrative reviews on tax assessments.

McAdams’ started his career in 1987 working for the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office until 1997 when he joined a private practice. He went back to the DA’s office in 1999 as a misdemeanor team captain supervising 23 prosecutors in the domestic violence unit.

“Tom McAdams brings a wealth of legal experience to the bench,” said State Rep. Jeff Stone of Greendale.  “As an assistant district attorney for 20 years, he tried hundreds of court cases.  His fairness and integrity will make him an outstanding judge and a great asset to Milwaukee.” 

McAdams lives in Greendale with his wife of 24 years and their two college-aged children.
