Governor Scott Walker to be in Greendale on January 4th

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker will be making an appearance in Greendale on Wednesday January 4.

Walker, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Tony Evers, State Senator Luther Olsen (R-Ripon), and Representative Steve Kestell (R-Elkhart Lake) are scheduled to be at at 8:45 a.m. to release the final report of the "Read to Lead Taskforce" and discuss the state’s first implementation phase.

The press conference will be held in the school's library and is open only to credentialed members of the media, according to a release from Cullen Werwie, press secretary to Walker.

Governor Walker created the task force in April 2011 to 'create initiatives to empower school districts, teachers and parents - not lawmakers - with the ability to decide how to best teach reading and to provide ways to better identify struggling young readers and how to overcome those challenges.'

The task force met throughout the state over the course of last year, culminating in tomorrow's final report.
