Finance Committee Will Wait for Final Numbers from the State

The finance committee met on Monday night at Village Hall.

The finance committee opted to wait till the Village of Greendale receives the final numbers from the state to review the 2011 budget again.

Trustee Sally Chadwick requested to have the 2011 budget reviewed once again to double check the figures after Gov. Scott Walker introduced his budget proposal that will slash more than $1.25 billion from aid to schools and local governments.

Trustee James M. Birmingham requested on Monday night that Chadwick bring the manner up to the committee again in the future once the Village receives the final numbers.

Chadwick agreed with the committee to hold off on re-reviewing the budget.

"I think we are all disappointed that the state has not come back," Chadwick said. "I really thought it would be settled. Till we can get a firmer grasp on what the state is doing and how it’s going to affect Greendale directly I would like to postpone discussing it."

Village president John Hermes said that he believes that once those numbers come from the state there will be minor changes made to the already passed 2011 budget. He also said that if there are "any major or significant concerns the village manager (Todd Michaels) would be able to identify them in a timely manner."
